2016 overview

2016 was my first full year of retirement and I got used to the fact that weekends have to be regarded differently. There is now the opportunity to visit people in the mid-week when places are not so crowded. With Joel & Jamie’s Yorkshire place now complete, Joel is often there at the weekend tending his garden and greenhouse producing prize-winning vegetables, which means it is better for me to be at home then and travel in the week when he is at work and based at mine. I have done that about 4 times throughout the year and it will set the pattern for 2017.  Whilst missing the people at the office, many of my favourite people there have moved on to other jobs or retired. It has not been a happy place and I got out at the right time. The theatre has filled the vacuum and we do steam driven things whenever we can. This one was on a day off in August when we went to the Wensleydale Railway (normally diesel but they had a steam day). The ancient-looking locomotive was two years younger than me. Oh, how old that made me feel!
